Join me in the studio on Saturday 15th April 1pm-3pm, to learn how to create your own coil built pot. Coiling is one of the oldest techniques in creating with clay, it is a relatively slow and contemplative method, that requires some patience as you allow the clay to settle before adding more layers of coils.
This workshop if perfect for those who have had experience with clay and want to expand their making knowledge and explore creating a finished design. As you build your piece you can leave the coils exposed as part of the design or smooth out the surface to decorate, handles could be added to the vessel, along with sprigs or carved designs.
During the 2 hour workshop I will take you through the steps to build your piece and you can decorate it using under glazes and tissue transfer if you have a smooth surface or choose one of my studio glazes to accentuate the surface if you have left the coils exposed.
I will carefully dry your piece before its first firing then clear glaze it and fire it in the kiln. It will be ready for collection from the studio in 2-3 weeks. On the rare occasion any breakages occur during the firing process, I will repair them to the bet of my ability. However, if your piece is unable to be repaired, you will be offered the opportunity to remake it or a full refund.
Studio Address - Unit 11, 7-9 Grant St Cleveland.
