Hedgehog Mug

The guardian of peace, the Hedgehog shows that wisdom, kindness and courage are all contained within you. Like its gentle and self-sacrificing defence tactic, the Hedgehog reminds you that you do not need to hurt others in order to protect yourself. 

Hedgehog mug features and hand shaped hedgehog nestled in among hand painted and carved leaves. This wheel thrown mug is hand decorated with layers of different glazes and liquid gold and takes many weeks to create. 

Found in a place with magic in the air, where misty mornings gather dew on mossy rocks and sunlight forms dappled shadows under the trees. The animals in this wood hear the whispering of the ancients as their lives intertwine through the passing seasons.

These items are handmade at every stage in the making process and so each is unique. From creating the form, to hand making each batch of glaze, to hand carving and hand painting the designs, many variances are found at each stage of the process. Each piece is mindfully created in my studio over a number of weeks, with each finished piece having its own subtle differences. That is the beauty of handmade.
