Spend a gentle morning with Samoan-Australian artist and One Billion Stars creator Maryann Talia Pau, learning how to weave a small coiled basket using raffia.
During this hands-on session, you’ll learn a coiling method to shape a compact woven vessel -ideal for gifting, decorating your home, or simply enjoying a creative practice.
Held at Carys Martin Ceramic Studio, the workshop provides all supplies, easy-to-follow instruction, and a welcoming environment for conversation & making. You’ll leave with your finished basket and the skills to continue coiling on your own.

Maryann Talia Pau is a Sāmoan-Australian weaving artist with over a decade of weaving experience. She founded the One Billion Stars project (formerly One Million Stars to End Violence) and has exhibited her work at the NGV, GOMA, Artisan, and the Museum of Brisbane for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Maryann is passionate about Pacific Island weaving traditions and how they help people share culture, tell stories, and support Pasifika women in their creativity and identity.
