Floral Vase Surface Decoration Workshop
Creating in Clay & Surface Decoration
In this hands-on workshop with Melissa, you’ll be invited to slow down and focus on the joy of surface decoration, working directly onto a pre-made ceramic vase.
Each attendee will be provided with a leather-hard vase (approximately 15cm high), ready for you to decorate using a range of clay techniques. This allows you to concentrate fully on design, texture, and storytelling through clay, without the pressure of building the form from scratch.
You’ll be guided step-by-step through decorative methods such as:
-
Applying clay sprigs and raised elements
-
Carving and incising botanical patterns
-
Creating simple floral and nature-inspired motifs
-
Adding touches of colour to accentuate design
-
Exploring rhythm, repetition, and balance in surface design
This workshop is perfect for beginners through to more experienced makers who want to explore surface work in a relaxed, supportive environment. No prior experience is needed - just curiosity and a love of handmade objects.
Once complete, your vase will be carefully dried, fired, and glazed by the studio in a complementary finish. Finished pieces will be ready for collection a few weeks after the workshop.
✨ This workshop is ideal for:
• Those curious about ceramic surface decoration
• Garden and nature lovers
• Anyone wanting a gentle, creative afternoon
• People who enjoy slow, mindful making
All materials, tools, firings, and glazing are included.
Come and create a one-of-a-kind vase, decorated by hand and made to be treasured.
