Term 1 2025 Ten Week Term - Wednesday Evening
Wednesday 6:30 - 8:30pm
This course of 10 week classes at my studio in Cleveland is perfect for those wishing to learn and extend their skills in hand building and on the pottery wheel. You will learn the techniques to create pottery pieces, and I will show you how to master the skills of slab building, coiling and pinch pots and step you through the creative process of making and glazing. You are free to concentrate on your own projects or to be inspired by pieces in the studio. After creating your pieces you are able to focus on decorating using under glazes, tissue transfers and stoneware glazes. I will show you different decorating techniques and you can learn about the glaze process.
This course is suitable for beginners giving you all the clay foundation skills you need, or if you already have some experience, I will help you to further develop your style and skills. Course includes all clay, basic materials, firing and glazes.

Testimonials:
"A few years ago as an absolute beginner I signed up for my first term of weekly
classes with Carys and I have been returning each term ever since! Carys’ studio is
filled with light, joy and inspirational artwork and people. The sessions are learner-
centred with a unique combination of structure and the freedom to pursue whatever
skills or outcome you desire. Carys has a gift for knowing when to encourage a
student to stretch and grow, coaching to them to achieve art that never conceived
they could create. Equally, Carys creates an environment and provides feedback
that helps you consolidate skills and learn the craft more deeply. Additionally, it is a
pleasure to learn surrounded by others who are at difference stages of learning from
beginner through to those who are working on pieces for exhibitions."

"Carys Martin’s Ceramics Studio is incredible – a veritable wonderland!! Carys’ works that are on display and available for purchase are stunning. The Makers Meet classes are fantastic. I commenced learning with Carys six months ago and I am constantly surprised by my progress. Carys caters to all levels in her classes and workshops in a fun, warm and supportive environment. I equally treasure being part of this lovely community with the skills and techniques I am learning from Carys in class." Angela
