Whispers of the Rising Sun...

In many ancient traditions, the sunrise is a sacred moment of rebirth – a symbol of hope, clarity, and the promise of a new beginning. It was believed that those who rose with the sun could harness its energy to awaken their spirit and guide their intentions for the day ahead. The Rising Sun Mug is a tribute to this daily renewal, with carved sunrays cresting over ocean waves and a piece of turquoise nestled in the handle – a stone known for its protective, grounding, and truth-speaking qualities. It’s a cup made for mornings filled with light, purpose, and presence.

These items are handmade at every stage in the making process and so each is unique. From creating the form, to hand making each batch of glaze, to hand carving and hand painting the designs, many variances are found at each stage of the process. Each piece is mindfully created in my studio over a number of weeks, with each finished piece having its own subtle differences. That is the beauty of handmade.
