Moon Mother - Lidded Ritual Vessel
Moon Mother is a celebration of the nurturing feminine, the cycles of the moon and our deep connection to the earth.
Created from an iron-rich red earth clay, her generous form is wheel-thrown before being individually sculpted and carved by hand. Ancient spiral markings move across her body, while layers of warm, earthy colour reveal the natural richness of the clay.
Her removable lid becomes a small bowl of its own, crowned by a hand-sculpted crescent moon. Use it to hold herbs, incense, crystals, jewellery, offerings or other small treasures before returning it to its place as Moon Mother’s face and crown.
The larger vessel offers a protected space for keepsakes, written intentions, sacred objects or anything you wish to hold close.
A one-of-a-kind ritual piece embodying nurture, abundance, protection and the ever-turning cycles of life.

Each stage in the making process and so each is unique. From creating the form, to hand making each batch of glaze, to hand carving and hand painting the designs, many variances are found at each stage of the process. Each piece is mindfully created in my studio over a number of weeks, with each finished piece having its own subtle differences. That is the beauty of handmade.
