The Ancient One - Ritual Chalice

The Ancient One is a vessel for connection, remembrance and the wisdom carried through generations.

Created from an iron-rich red earth clay, each element has been wheel-thrown, assembled and decorated by hand. Flowing spirals encircle the form, echoing ancient symbols of life, movement and the continual turning of time.

A sculpted face emerges from the base, quietly holding and supporting the vessel above. Layers of earthy colour, white detailing and a softly flowing green glaze enhance the contrast between raw clay and richly decorated surfaces.

Use this ceremonial vessel to hold water, herbs, flowers, offerings or meaningful objects. It may become part of an altar, a seasonal ritual or simply stand as a reminder of the knowledge and stories carried by those who came before us.

A one-of-a-kind ceramic piece honouring ancestral wisdom, continuity and connection.

Each stage in the making process and so each is unique. From creating the form, to hand making each batch of glaze, to hand carving and hand painting the designs, many variances are found at each stage of the process. Each piece is mindfully created in my studio over a number of weeks, with each finished piece having its own subtle differences. That is the beauty of handmade.
