Crescent Moon & Stars Mug

A little everyday magic for your morning cuppa.

Each mug is individually handmade in my Cleveland studio and decorated with a raised crescent moon and scattered stars. After glazing and firing, I add real gold lustre by hand to the moon and selected stars, before firing the piece once more to permanently fuse the gold to the surface.

The glazes on these mugs are their own little moment in time. The final surface comes from the perfect meeting of glaze consistency, application and kiln temperature - creating colours, movement and effects that I may never be able to repeat in quite the same way again. Each one is genuinely unique.

Made to be used and enjoyed - for morning coffee, afternoon tea or a quiet moment at the end of the day.

Each mug is handmade, so shape, glaze and placement of the celestial details will vary slightly from piece to piece.

Please note: Because of the real gold lustre, these mugs are not microwave safe. Hand washing is recommended to protect the gold finish.

These items are handmade at every stage in the making process and so each is unique. From creating the form, to hand making each batch of glaze, to hand carving and hand painting the designs, many variances are found at each stage of the process. Each piece is mindfully created in my studio over a number of weeks, with each finished piece having its own subtle differences. That is the beauty of handmade.
