Standing Stone Sunrise Mug
Handcrafted Ceramic with Ammonite Detail
Inspired by ancient landscapes, morning light, and the quiet mystery of sacred sites, this unique mug is a celebration of timeless ritual. On one side, hand-carved standing stones rise beneath a radiant sun, surrounded by swirling lines evoking flowing water, wind, and spirit. On the handle, a real ammonite fossil is carefully embedded – grounding the piece in ancient wisdom.
The ammonite, with its spiral form, is a symbol of continual evolution, grounding energy, and connection to Earth’s ancient memory. Believed to hold protective and healing powers, ammonites remind us of the cyclical nature of life, transformation, and the deep magic of nature’s design.
Finished in calming hues of aqua, sand, and sun-glow glaze, each mug is a one-of-a-kind piece to hold your daily rituals – be it tea, coffee, or a quiet moment to yourself.
Details:
• Hand-thrown and carved by Carys Martin
• Glazed interior for easy cleaning
• Genuine ammonite fossil embedded in the handle
• One-of-a-kind – no two are ever the same
A Story from the Old Ways...
In Celtic folklore, it’s said that when the first light of dawn touches the ancient standing stones, a doorway opens between worlds. This fleeting moment – suspended between night and day – was believed to offer insight, healing, and connection to the ancestors. The stones, silent and patient, stood as keepers of memory and magic. Inspired by this tale, the Standing Stone Mug carries that energy forward, with hand-carved symbols and an embedded ammonite fossil – a spiral of time, evolution, and the sacred feminine.
These items are handmade at every stage in the making process and so each is unique. From creating the form, to hand making each batch of glaze, to hand carving and hand painting the designs, many variances are found at each stage of the process. Each piece is mindfully created in my studio over a number of weeks, with each finished piece having its own subtle differences. That is the beauty of handmade. These photos are a representation of the piece from this collection you will receive.
