Handcrafted from black stoneware clay, each mug features a hand-carved spiral motif filled with white clay. Found etched into ancient stones throughout the British Isles and beyond, the spiral has long symbolised life's journey, the turning of the seasons, and the continuous thread connecting past, present and future.
The rich black clay reflects the depth and stillness of the longest night, while the soft milky glaze flowing across the rim and interior evokes moonlight, frost and the first promise of the returning light.
