Paint Palette & Trinket Dish
Friday 21st August | 10:00am – 12:00pm
Create a beautiful handmade ceramic piece that is as practical as it is personal. During this relaxed handbuilding workshop, you'll design and make your own organic paint palette, watercolour palette, jewellery dish, or trinket tray using stoneware clay.
Inspired by the things that bring meaning to your everyday life, you'll design and shape a series of soft, organic compartments to suit your own creative practice or daily rituals. Create a ceramic paint palette, a jewellery or trinket dish, a place for crystals, botanicals or treasured keepsakes - or simply follow your own inspiration to make something uniquely yours.
Melissa will guide you through each stage of the process, from shaping and refining the form through to creating individual wells and compartments. You'll explore smoothing techniques, carving, stamping, sprigs, and subtle surface decoration to personalise your piece while maintaining its beautiful organic aesthetic.
Suitable for beginners through to experienced makers, this workshop focuses on simple handbuilding techniques that are enjoyable, relaxing, and accessible to everyone.
We will work with a pale stoneware clay, and your piece will be clear glazes to maintain the natural clay colour after its first firing.
The workshop runs for approximately 2 hours.
After the workshop, your piece will be slowly dried, bisque fired, glazed, and glaze fired in the kiln. Finished work will be ready for collection from the studio approximately 2–3 weeks later.
As with all handmade ceramics, occasional kiln breakages can occur. If your piece is damaged beyond repair during firing, you will be offered the opportunity to remake your piece or receive a full refund.
